Centennial Gardens are located at Elitch Cir. Cheesman Park. Cheesman Park, located in the heart of Denver, is a great place to enjoy a picnic this summer. With its Old-World charm, mountain views from the distance and adequately shaded areas, you can enjoy your picnic in the middle of a hot sunny day or the early hours of the evening. The park is always teaming with locals who use its trails for walking, its grass for lounging and playing and it even has a playground for children located on its west side.

The land was converted to the park in Legends of America claims the park might be haunted! If you are looking for a supernatural picnic at night, this might be the place for you too! City Park. City Park, stretching over acres, is the oldest and largest public park in Denver. City Park also features two lakes, a big wooden castle playground for the kids, a basketball court, softball field, handball and tennis courts, Horseshoe pits and an Interactive Water Fountain operational during the summer season allowing your kiddos to cool off.

There are two specific picnic site locations in City Park: the first one is located near Thatcher Fountain Meadow and features eight picnic tables and two grills, the second is located near the playground and features five tables and three grills.

Picnics are also allowed on the grass throughout the park! City Park is located at York St. Denver Botanic Gardens. The Denver Botanic Gardens is an excellent place to enjoy an outdoor picnic this summer! Looking for a great place to picnic near Denver, Colorado? As we have been profiling hiking trails close to Denver, we have taken notes on the best picnic areas. The park is small, but has an old rock picnic shelter complete with a stone fireplace.

There are picnic tables throughout the park and a few grills as well. Betasso Preserve has great views looking east to Denver. After exploring Boulder Falls, we drove up to the park for a picnic. So, if you are looking for a quieter picnic spot, this would be our first suggestion.

Evergreen is a quaint village about 40 minutes into the mountains from Denver. You can walk from town to the lake, or park the car at the lake parking lot on the west side of the lake.

There you will find a small picnic area complete with grills. Eldorado Canyon State Park may have the best picnic area in Colorado. The drawback are the crowds. On the weekends, just getting in the park can be an issue. So, we suggest going on a weekday.

It makes a perfect after work picnic. The picnic area is right along South Boulder Creek and the views of the canyon are breathtaking. There you will find both the picnic area and the interpretive center. Eldorado Canyon does have an entrance fee because it is a Colorado State Park.
